Welcome Back to School!

Welcome sixth grade students and welcome back eighth grade students! This is going to be a great year.

If you happen to bring your summer reading assignments on the first day of school, I will collect them (If you have me on B day, do NOT bring it on Monday. Instead, bring it with you on Tuesday.) and maybe give you a couple of extra credit points for getting the assignment done early. However, the assignment is not due until September 3 (A) and 4 (B), after Labor Day. You will present your books in a bag (6th grade) and mind maps (8th grade) on that day. Sixth graders, DO NOT PUT PERISHABLE ITEMS IN YOUR BAGS. Since we won’t see what is in your bag until a couple of weeks after school starts, the food/plant items will either be moldy, rotten, shriveled, or just plain yucky.

I will be giving out important information on the first day of school, so parents, be on the lookout. Please note that district testing will start on Tuesday, August 20th, so introductory and informational items will be stretched out over the next few B days. The IOWA reading test will be given on 8/20-21, and the curriculum baseline assessments (CGAs) will be given in two parts from 8/22-27.

Looking forward to an awesome year in Language Arts!
